This has been my first time judging a Chow breed Open show & I thoroughly enjoyed my time going over the exhibits. There were some good Chows to go over & in some classes some difficult decisions. Very few Chows backed away in which I was impressed.

JUNIOR DOG 1. Ellis' Korina Denis The Menace at Bojinghai, big upstanding black, excellent bone, good strong head, broad flat skull with thick padded ears, clean eyes, well padded muzzle, good mouth pigmentation, moved OK.

YEARLING DOG 1. Jardines' Destavelars Mr. Frostie at Kevindale, good size well balanced cream, good strong catlike feet, compact ample bone, moved OK.

NOVICE DOG 1. Ellis' Sugar Ray at Bojinghai, good sized fawn dog, broad flat skull & padded ears, clean eyes, correct pigment for a fawn, straight back legs, moves freely, in good coat & condition.
2. Korina Denis The Menace at Bojinghai.

GRADUATE DOG 1. Sugar Ray at Bojinghai.
2. Williams' Mactykes Macao, big upstanding red, good size head, broad flat skull, clean eyes, broad chest, straight forelegs, round feet.

POST GRADUATE DOG 1. Russel & Gentlemans' Hiswin Personality Star, I judged this dog when he was a puppy & he has improved with age, good size red, good head, well proportioned with the rest of his body, flat skull with small padded ears, clean dark eyes, correct bite & excellent pigmentation, straight front legs leading to catlike feet, little angulation in the hindquarters leading to good movement, in good coat & condition, pressed hard for the top honours.

LIMIT DOG AOC. 1. Godbers' Cherrymount Good To Be Black for Lechan, another exhibit who has matured nicely over time, this black was outstanding here, in excellent coat & condition, good broad flat skull, neat well rounded & padded ears, good reach of neck, good clean eyes, correct bite & excellent pigmentation is what to be expected for a black, excellent bone, short coupled, straight legs with short hocks showing very little angulation, well rounded feet, excellent movement showing off the pendulum like Chow movement, standing in profile shows the typical Chow shape, presented & handled well. BIS.

OPEN DOG 1. Fishers' Akakuro Hey Jude at Poppykins, another impressive dog, good size head, with broad flat skull, small padded ears, good clean eyes, correct bite & excellent pigment, excellent bone, short coupled, straight legs leading to well rounded feet, straight stifles leading to short hocks which shows off the excellent movement, in good coat & condition, presented & handled well, pushed hard for the top honours with my BD winner, on another day roles could have been reveresed RBD.

VETERAN DOG NO ENTRIES

PUPPY BITCH 1. Byrnes' Akakuro Always Bet On Black, what a showgirl. This 10 months black bitch came into the ring as if she had been shown for years, none of the inexperience that is expected from puppies, well balanced, in good coat & colour, stood foursquare, nice feminine head, correct size for her body, head setting on good reach of neck & level topline, with well rounded padded ears, clean dark eye, correct pigment & excellent bite, nice straight legs leading to rounded feet, moved well, one to look out for in the future. BP
2. Southgates' Santicana Truly Scrumy Ruby, daughter of my BIS winner, showed some characterisitcs of her sire, another well balanced red bitch, very similar to my BP winner, pretty feminine head with dark clean eye, head not overdone to make her masculine, neat padded ears not too large, straight legs in proportion with rest of her body, correct pigment, sound bite, short hocks leading to rounded feet, moved well after settling down. Could change places with 1 on another day.
3. Fishers' Poppykins Born To Be Wild.

JUNIOR BITCH 1. Lees' Billabi China Star, very feminine fawn bitch of good size, pleasing head showed off with a good reach of neck, good clean eyes & nice padded ears, well padded muzzle, excellent pigment & correct bite, stood foursquare with good length of leg but in proportion with the rest of her body, good depth in chest & short in couplings, straight back & fore legs, short hocks & rounded feet, well up on toes, showed off in good condition, moved well in profile.
2. Fishers' Poppykins Born To Be Wild, good size red, good head resting on good reach of neck, well padded muzzle, good pigment and correct bite, good clean eyes and well padded ears, good straight legs and short hocks which set off the good movement, in good coat and condition. Nothing to choose between 1 & on another day could have been reversed.
3. Carrs' Guanzhou Silk 'N' Linen.

YEARLING BITCH 1. Southgates' Santicana Ambers Angel Eyes, a very apt name for this bitch with excellent clean eyes, nice cobby red, feminine head, small padded ears, padded muzzle with good pigment and correct bite, good straight legs leading to rounded feet and short hocks at the rear showed off the superb movement, typical showgirl, presented herself with ease.
2. Hills' Marshill Amber Blossom, good size red bitch, stronger in head to 1, good pigment and correct bite, good bone, in good coat and condition.

NOVICE BITCH 1. Santicana Truly Scrumy Ruby.
2. Marshill Amber Blossom.

GRADUATE BITCH 1. Marshill Amber Blossom.
2. Ellis' Glenrui Ting Wan with Aksuona, good size red, pleasing feminine head, good padded ears, clean eyes, good straight back legs. A little longer in body but good level topline, presented and handled well. POST GRADUATE BITCH 1. O'Connors' Little Lily, stood alone, well balanced red bitch with a pleased feminine head, stood foursquare, small rounded padded ears correctly placed, good clean dark eyes, head set squarely on correctly angled neck, well padded muzzle, good pigment and sound bite, excellent depth in chest and good spring of rib and short coupled, nice straight forelegs with the correct angulation in the shoulder, nicely rounded feet, straight back legs with short hocks shows some excellent movement, showed herself to her full potential RBIS

LIMIT BITCH 1. Rennies' Rendel Tilly-Ann, stood foursqure, well balanced shaded red of good size, feminine head not overdone, good clean eyes, small thick padded ears, well padded muzzle in proportion to her head, good pigment and sound bite, good reach of neck, nice straight forelegs leading to rounded feet, good depth of chest, good spring of rib, short coupled, preferred the front movement, in good coat and condition, presented and handled well.

AOC BITCH Absent

OPEN BITCH 1. Shergay Jalinde at Kyong, this self red bitch showed the experience of being in the show ring by standing foursquare and never backing away from myself, good well balanced bitch, good reach of neck, good size head with correct placed padded ears and clean dark eyes giving that Chow expression, well padded muzzle, good pigmentation and bite, good depth in chest and length in rib, short coupled, straight forelegs with correct shoulder angulation leading to rounded feet, good straight stifle and short hocks, good movement in the final line-up RBB.
